Recent reports indicate that the all-new Kia Telluride made its official debut at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show. The first-generation Kia Telluride was launched in 2020, positioned as a three-row, six-seat midsize to large SUV. This time, the new model has undergone a comprehensive upgrade, with systematic updates to its exterior, interior, and powertrain, and for the first time, a hybrid option has been added.
The all-new Telluride features a more powerful design. The front face adopts a taller and wider grille, with different styles available for different trim levels: the SXP trim comes with a glossy black vertical slat grille, while the XRT trim uses a black mesh grille that extends down to the lower edge of the front bumper. On the side of the vehicle, sharp triangular character lines and a wider hood enhance the muscular look, and the roofline has become more streamlined. The rear end adopts a floating roof design and adds thicker wheel arch cladding. Both the headlight and taillight systems feature an all-new vertical layout. The SXP and X-Pro trims are equipped with new eight-spoke "cross-style" wheels, and the X-Pro trim further adds bright orange front tow hooks to emphasize its off-road positioning.
In terms of dimensions, the new model has grown again compared to the previous generation: the overall length has increased by 635mm, and the wheelbase has been extended by 686mm, aiming to improve the third-row space. The interior layout has also been completely redesigned. A new-style dual-screen setup extends from the instrument cluster to the center of the dashboard; both 12.3-inch displays support CarPlay and Android Auto. In terms of materials, high-end trims incorporate solid wood, metal accents, and all-new two-tone leather seats, with a mesh structure added to the headrests. There are more color options available, including Deep Navy and Blackberry for the exterior, paired with new interior color schemes such as Tuscan Umber and Sand Beige.
Kia has made significant adjustments to the new Telluride's powertrain: the original 3.8L V6 engine has been discontinued, and two all-new four-cylinder powertrain systems have been introduced. The 2.5T gasoline model has a maximum engine output of 205kW and a peak torque of 421N·m, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5T gasoline-electric hybrid model has a combined system output of 245kW and a peak torque of 460N·m, equipped with a 1.65kWh lithium-ion battery and matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission, boasting a combined range of up to 966km.
With the upgrades in configuration and powertrain, the price of the new model is expected to be higher than the current model (which ranges from $37,885 to $55,180, equivalent to approximately RMB 272,000 to 397,000). The entry-level trim should still be kept under $40,000 (equivalent to approximately RMB 288,000).
