Hyundai STARIA Electric Version, Korea's "High-Speed Rail-Style MPV", to Be Launched on January 9th

Recently, Hyundai Motor has confirmed that it will launch the brand's first all-electric STARIA in early 2026. The global debut of this vehicle will take place during the Brussels Motor Show, which runs from January 9th to 18th. Hyundai stated that this model will become the largest all-electric vehicle in the brand's current product lineup, and its launch will also fill the gap in Hyundai's all-electric MPV market.

In addition to the new car's launch date, Hyundai has clearly indicated that this vehicle will showcase its latest-generation electric technology for the first time, including an 800V power supply platform. For the battery, it is likely to be equipped with a power battery with a capacity of 99 kWh. However, the official has not released information about the product's design and configurations, so let's review the relevant details we have so far.

Regarding the all-electric STARIA, we have previously obtained a set of spy photos. The vehicle features a distinct "high-speed rail" style. From the front, the new car has eliminated the grille of the original fuel-powered version, while still adopting split-type headlights. The main headlight units are located on both sides, and the upper part is a linear daytime running light. The entire front windshield still maintains a large tilt angle.

The STARIA can accommodate 7 to 11 passengers and can be modified into various vehicle types. Currently, the STARIA is available in gasoline, diesel, and hybrid versions. In terms of configurations, the new car is equipped with a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central control screen, automatic air conditioning, heated and ventilated seats, as well as L2-level advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for active safety. Furthermore, the new car has been updated with USB-C charging ports, a new smart key, front radars, and a sliding door slow-mode function, among other features.

For price reference, the hybrid version—powered by a 1.6T four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor, with a maximum power of 242 horsepower and a fuel consumption of 7.7L/100km—has a starting price of 34.33 million won (approximately 185,000 RMB) for the Cargo variant and 36.53 million won (approximately 197,000 RMB) for the Tourer variant.
