Likely to Debut in 2026: Continuing the Concept Car Design, It’s Actually Quite Stylish! Renderings of the All-New BMW 3 Series
Since the launch of the all-new iX3 at the Munich Motor Show, there has been great curiosity about BMW’s upcoming models. How would BMW’s Neue Klasse design language look when applied to other existing production models? In fact, spy shots of the all-new BMW 3 Series have previously surfaced online, and from the images, it appears the new model will adopt the Neue Klasse design language, following the styling of the iX3. In this episode of rendering content, we take a look at what the exterior design of the all-new BMW 3 Series might look like.
According to previous reports, the all-new BMW M3 (codenamed G84) will be built on an upgraded version of the current 3 Series’ CLAR platform and is expected to make its debut in 2026. It is anticipated that the vehicle will still be equipped with the S58 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine, but it is likely to incorporate a 48V mild hybrid system to meet strict emission regulations, with a combined system output expected to exceed 500 horsepower. Additionally, there have been reports that the all-new BMW 3 Series will also offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, which may be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor. The combined power output of this PHEV model could exceed 300 horsepower, and its all-electric range is projected to surpass 100 kilometers. The plug-in hybrid version is expected to go on sale in 2027, following the launch of the fuel-powered all-new BMW 3 Series. However, based on the current test vehicles, there are no obvious exterior differences between the PHEV and fuel-powered variants.
First, let’s analyze the previously exposed spy shots. The overall front face clearly showcases the Neue Klasse design style: large horizontal LED headlights replace the traditional kidney grille design, and it is also expected to feature a sporty front bumper. Looking at the side profile, the new model is equipped with dual five-spoke wheels, inside which are large-sized brake discs and red brake calipers—elements that emphasize a strong sporty vibe. At the rear, the circular taillights seen in the spy shots are likely just test versions; the production model should adopt a more sleek and stylish taillight design. Furthermore, dual exhaust pipes (one on each side) can be seen at the bottom of the rear bumper.
In the renderings, we have essentially applied the design elements of the Neue Klasse concept car and the iX3 to the body proportions of this all-new 3 Series sedan. The overall front face features the iconic new grille design, with compact light clusters on both sides. Below the grille, there is a two-section front bumper with an expanded, layered design, and a large, square-shaped air intake in the center. The side profile is largely similar to that of the current 3 Series, with sportiness remaining a key focus—smooth waistlines paired with slightly flared front and rear wheel arches create a well-defined muscular look. The rear end adopts a split-type taillight design, and the geometrically arranged light sources inside are similar to those of the iX3. Meanwhile, the inherited design language also gives the rear of the all-new BMW 3 Series sharper line transitions; the rear bumper is equipped with a diffuser and protrudes outward as a whole.
