MG Cyberster: Redefining Classics with Electric Power for a New Era of EV Roadsters
Share
The MG Cyberster, MG Motor’s first all-electric convertible roadster under SAIC, redefines classic British sports car heritage with a bold “retro-futuristic” design that harmonizes the elegance of iconic models like the MGB Roadster with cutting-edge electric technology. Its sculpted silhouette features scissor doors, an electric retractable soft-top roof, and a streamlined body (0.269Cd drag coefficient), blending visual drama with aerodynamic efficiency. The front fascia showcases a closed grille with an LED light bar, flanked by air intakes and carbon-fiber accents, while the rear end completes the look with digital matrix taillights and an active diffuser, creating a cohesive fusion of tech and performance.
Under the hood, the Cyberster offers two powertrain variants to suit diverse driving preferences:
- Rear-Wheel-Drive Single-Motor: Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, it delivers 335 hp, 475 N·m of torque, a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.0 seconds, and a 507 km range (WLTP), ideal for urban commuting and long-distance travel.
- All-Wheel-Drive Dual-Motor: With a combined output of 502 hp and 725 N·m, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds—matching hypercar performance—while offering a 450 km range (WLTP). A Super Boost Mode unlocks extra power for short bursts, enhancing track capabilities.
The chassis is engineered for precision and comfort, featuring a double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, paired with CDC adaptive dampers that adjust stiffness in real-time. Brembo high-performance brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires ensure grip and stopping power at high speeds.
Inside, the cockpit prioritizes driver engagement with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central screen, running Banma OS for voice control, 5G connectivity, OTA updates, and AR-HUD navigation. L2 autonomous driving aids include adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, automatic parking, and rear collision warning, reducing fatigue on long drives.
Battery safety and efficiency are prioritized with a CATL high-density ternary lithium battery, rated IP68 for water/dust resistance, and equipped with pre-heating and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality (3.3kW max) for outdoor power needs. A heat pump system optimizes range in cold climates.
