Sharp and Unique Design: Kia's New Concept Car Teaser Images, Potentially the Successor to the Stinger

Recently, we learned from Kia officials that the brand has released mysterious teaser images of a new electric sports sedan with a sleek design. This four-door model, featuring a short front overhang, is likely to be the successor to the Stinger.
The four-door coupe concept car is equipped with an irregularly shaped steering wheel and electronic side mirrors. Its windshield adopts a design similar to that of supercars, achieving a seamless connection with the roof line. Although the information from the teaser images is limited, we can see that the new car has a long wheelbase and short front/rear overhangs. This proportion indicates that it is not a traditional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive model like the Stinger, but rather suggests its identity as a pure electric vehicle.
The car's shoulder lines are full and tough, and the daytime running lights extend backward from the front of the vehicle, directly connecting to the electronic side mirrors at the rear. Through the windows, an irregularly shaped steering wheel inside the car can be faintly seen, implying that the concept car may adopt a steer-by-wire system paired with variable steering ratio technology— a design quite similar to that of the Lexus RZ model.
Kia has not yet announced the model's name or its official release date. Of course, discussions about the Stinger's successor always bring to mind the significant impact made by the first-generation Stinger when it was launched in early 2017. The Stinger can be called Kia's "breakthrough model": this rear-wheel-drive fastback coupe was tuned by former engineers from BMW's M Division, offering two powertrain options — a 2.0T turbocharged engine and a 3.3T twin-turbo V6 engine — and combining trendy design with excellent performance.
Despite receiving wide acclaim from car enthusiasts, the Stinger's sales remained lackluster, and it was quietly discontinued in 2023. Previously, there were reports that Kia was developing the GT1 project, which was regarded as the pure electric successor to the Stinger, a sports sedan. However, due to issues such as technical platforms within the Hyundai Group, this project was terminated in 2024. It is reported that the project was re-approved this year and is expected to reach mass production in 2027.
