Recently, we learned from overseas media that the all-new Audi R8 is expected to be officially unveiled by the end of 2027. It is reported that, similar to its predecessors, the new car will be based on the Lamborghini "Huracán," sharing transmission systems, key structural components, electronics, and chassis systems with the Temerario. Given that the Lamborghini Temerario is a plug-in hybrid, it is not excluded that the all-new R8 may be named Audi R8 E-tron in the future.
For reference, the Lamborghini Temerario is powered by a 4.0T V8 twin-turbocharged engine combined with three electric motors. The engine alone produces a maximum power of 800 horsepower at 9,000-9,750 rpm, with a maximum RPM of 10,000 and a peak torque of 730 Nm at 4,000-7,000 rpm. The electric motors contribute an additional maximum power of 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The combined maximum output power of the system reaches 920 horsepower, matched with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The top speed is 340 km/h, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. Additionally, it carries a 3.8 kWh battery pack, providing an electric-only driving range of 3.5 km.
Briefly reviewing the history of the Audi R8, the first-generation Audi R8 was based on the Lamborghini Gallardo in 2006, marking the first time Audi had its own supercar. The second-generation Audi R8, based on the Huracán, was officially launched in 2015 and discontinued in 2023. From its debut in 2007 to its cessation of production in 2023, the Audi R8 sold 44,418 units worldwide.
