Firefly Right-Hand-Drive Model Launches in Thailand at Approximately 169,200 RMB

On March 25, the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show opened as scheduled. As a highly influential automotive event in Southeast Asia, the exhibition gathered numerous global automakers, with Chinese new energy vehicle brands emerging as the center of attention. Among them, the Firefly brand made a grand debut, officially launching its right-hand-drive model and announcing its official retail price. Offered in a single trim level, the model is priced at 799,000 Thai Baht, equivalent to approximately 169,200 RMB at current exchange rates. Thanks to its high cost-performance ratio and rich equipment, it immediately drew extensive attention from media and consumers on-site.

The official launch of the right-hand-drive Firefly in Thailand carries milestone significance. It marks that following its successful entry into Singapore, the Firefly brand has smoothly penetrated Thailand, the second-largest right-hand-drive automotive market in Southeast Asia, further improving its layout across the region. It also signals an accelerated pace of the brand’s global expansion, taking a solid step toward its goal of “global layout and serving users worldwide”. Amid a booming demand for electric vehicles in Thailand, consumers are increasingly shifting away from internal combustion engine vehicles due to soaring fuel prices and concerns over fuel shortages, creating vast development opportunities for premium smart electric vehicle brands — a market window that Firefly has perfectly seized.

At the launch event, Ge Jin, President of Firefly, delivered a speech elaborating on the brand’s development philosophy and its determination to tap into the Thai market. He stated: “Upholding NIO’s mission of ‘Blue Sky Coming’, Firefly leverages NIO’s decade of accumulation in technological R&D and manufacturing systems to lead the premium small car segment into the era of intelligent electrification with brand-new concepts and user experience. We firmly believe that, as NIO’s first model introduced to the Thai market, the arrival of Firefly will stand as an important milestone in driving the growth of Thailand’s premium electric vehicle segment. We are delighted to establish a long-term partnership with the Thonburi Group, which boasts more than 85 years of profound heritage in Thailand’s automotive industry, to jointly elevate the brand’s influence in the Thai market.”

To better deepen its presence in Thailand, Firefly has appointed Thonburi BlueSky Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Thailand’s leading automotive conglomerate Thonburi Group, as its exclusive distributor in the country. Backed by its deep local market insights and full-industry-chain layout, Thonburi Group’s strengths in luxury vehicle production, high-end battery assembly, and extensive after-sales service networks will help Firefly quickly integrate into the Thai market and bring the unique charm of a new-era premium smart electric small car to more local consumers.

As a brand under NIO focused on premium smart electric small vehicles, the right-hand-drive Firefly retains the brand’s core product strengths and demonstrates outstanding competitiveness in design, dimensions, powertrain and other aspects. In terms of design, the vehicle adopts a distinctive bionic styling inspired by the bioluminescence of fireflies. Both the front and rear feature triple circular halo headlights, paired with smooth body lines, delivering exceptional visual recognition and a sleek, minimalist aesthetic that aligns closely with the brand spirit of “Shine Freely”.

In dimensions, the vehicle measures 4003mm in length, 1781mm in width and 1557mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2615mm. Its compact body is highly suitable for urban driving conditions in Thailand, while its rational space layout meets the daily travel needs of family users, balancing agility and practicality. For power and range, it is equipped with a single rear-axle motor delivering a maximum power output of 105kW, providing ample performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 8.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150km/h, easily handling both urban commuting and highway driving. Additionally, fitted with a 42.1kWh battery pack, the vehicle achieves a CLTC pure electric range of 420 kilometers. Combined with NIO’s mature energy replenishment technology, it effectively alleviates users’ range anxiety.

Notably, the Firefly is developed to the latest dual five-star safety standards of China and Europe’s new car assessment programs. High-strength steel and aluminum materials account for 83.4% of the body structure, complemented by 9 standard airbags and a host of advanced active safety features, delivering all-around protection for occupants. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with a smart infotainment system and voice assistant, paired with agile handling, further enhancing driving convenience and comfort.

The entry of the right-hand-drive Firefly into Thailand not only offers local consumers a new high-value option for premium smart electric small cars but also showcases the technological prowess and global influence of Chinese new energy vehicle brands. With its successful launch in Thailand, Firefly will further expand across Southeast Asia and the global market, continuing to lead the premium small car segment into a new era of intelligent electrification with high-quality products and services.
