BMW and Huawei Reach New Cooperation, Bringing Digital Services Such as HUAWEI HiCar to Vehicles

Recently, we learned from official sources that BMW China and Huawei Terminal have reached a cooperation agreement: BMW will deeply integrate with the HarmonyOS ecosystem in China to launch digital services including BMW Digital Key, HUAWEI HiCar, and MyBMW App, as well as intelligent applications and functions developed based on HarmonyOS NEXT.

Specifically, the BMW Digital Key function developed based on HarmonyOS NEXT will be launched within the year, allowing users to unlock, lock, or start their vehicles using Huawei smartphones. The deeply integrated HUAWEI HiCar will be first available on BMW's next-generation models produced in China in 2026. Huawei's HarmonyOS ecosystem will seamlessly integrate into BMW's intelligent cockpit, realizing an ecological fusion of "intelligent connectivity across personal, vehicle, and home scenarios," further enriching in-car applications and intelligent digital experiences.

Prior to this, BMW's two mobile applications, MyBMW App and MINI App, were already available on the HarmonyOS NEXT app store by the end of 2024. Users can activate BMW ConnectedDrive services through these two apps, enabling remote vehicle control, checking remaining fuel levels, charging status, and other functions.
