As BMW’s first all-electric 5 Series model, the i5 embodies the brand’s commitment to “electrified heritage,” merging classic German luxury driving dynamics with cutting-edge EV technology. With dimensions of 5175mm×1900mm×1520mm and a 3105mm wheelbase, it offers best-in-class knee room (110mm) and a C-pillar-specific extended design, catering to both business and family travel. The powertrain spans rear-wheel-drive single-motor variants (eDrive35L/eDrive40L) and an all-wheel-drive dual-motor version (xDrive50L), delivering up to 385kW of power, a 0-100km/h acceleration as quick as 4.2 seconds, and a CLTC range of up to 713km (eDrive40L). It supports 200kW ultra-fast charging, replenishing 10%-80% in just 33 minutes.
In terms of intelligence, the i5 features the iDrive 9.0 system with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155P chip, enabling 5G connectivity, CarPlay integration, and OTA updates. L2-level autonomous driving assistance is standard across all trims, with higher variants offering optional gaze-tracking lane-change assist and Auto Parking Pro. The rear cabin introduces a 31-inch 8K floating theater screen (optional) and a Bowers & Wilkins 18-speaker sound system, complemented by interactive crystal ambient lighting for an immersive experience. Additionally, air suspension, adaptive damping, and variable steering ratio come standard, upholding BMW’s “driver-centric” philosophy.
