On March 2nd, BYD officially unveiled its Lingyuan Intelligent In-car Drone System, which allows users to operate the in-car drone directly from within the vehicle through a dedicated in-car drone control application or mobile app.
Functions such as one-click takeoff, intelligent return, drone accompaniment during driving, and in-car shooting can be achieved, enabling various applications in outdoor exploration, road condition assessment, traffic surveying, and emergency rescue. The Fangbiao Bao 8 Drone Edition, equipped with the Lingyuan Intelligent In-car Drone System, was officially launched at the event.
The most striking feature of the Drone Edition is its rooftop drone compartment. As an SUV with impressive off-road configurations and performance, the Bao 8 perfectly matches the style of the Lingyuan Intelligent In-car Drone System, making it a natural fit. Most SUV owners who value 4WD capability are looking to explore richer landscapes, and the Bao 8 Drone Edition can better fulfill their wishes. Additionally, the Drone Edition introduces a new Snow Peak White interior color.
The Lingyuan Intelligent In-car Drone System unveiled today boasts a more compact design compared to the BYD Yangwang U8 Off-road Player Edition, albeit at the cost of losing the ability to replace the drone's battery and only offering charging capabilities; it is officially named the "Lingyuan Quick Charge Edition Drone Compartment." The system enables dynamic takeoff and landing of the drone at speeds up to 25km/h, omnidirectional active obstacle avoidance, follow-up shooting, one-click generation of aerial photography videos, and other functions.
BYD indicated that all its SUV models across brands are expected to gradually introduce versions equipped with the Lingyuan Intelligent In-car Drone System. The first batch of models includes six vehicles: Fangbiao Tai 3, BYD Tang L, Fangbiao Bao 5, Fangbiao Bao 8, BYD Hai Shi 07, and Denza N9.
In terms of power, the Fangbiao Bao 8 Drone Edition utilizes the DMO plug-in hybrid platform, equipped with a 2.0T engine (compatible with 92# gasoline) that delivers a maximum power of 150kW. Combined with front and rear drive motors of 200kW and 300kW, respectively, the comprehensive output power can reach 550kW, with a system torque of 760N·m.
Furthermore, the new vehicle adopts a non-load-bearing body and is equipped with the Cloud Ride-P system, which can adjust the hardness, height, and stiffness of the chassis. The suspension stroke has an adjustable range of 140mm, and the wading depth is between 800-890mm.
