The official overseas images of the facelifted Audi A5 and S5 have been unveiled. The new models feature a revamped infotainment system and optimized equipment packages. The Audi A5 has a starting price of USD 50,200 (approximately CNY 349,600, a correction for the obvious typo of USD 5.02 in the original text) and will go on sale in the first quarter.
In terms of exterior design, compared with the current model, the new Audi A5 adopts a blacked-out styling with toned-down large side air intakes, while the rear end remains identical to the current version. The new Audi S5 is fitted with exclusive red badging on the grille to accentuate its distinctive model identity, with its rear end also unchanged from the current model.
For the interior, both the A5 and S5 come with an all-new multifunction steering wheel, bringing back the classic scroll wheels. The two new models feature a redesigned MMI infotainment system with a revamped interface that incorporates more graphical elements and reduces list displays; apps are now shown in full color for more intuitive operation. The instrument cluster display has also been optimized to present more vehicle and driving information. In addition, navigation and media content from mobile phones can be mirrored to the infotainment screen. The front passenger display interface has been upgraded as well and supports independent Bluetooth headsets, eliminating audio interference between the driver and front passenger.
The new models also boast enhanced equipment, including newly added 360-degree panoramic view system, steering wheel heating, dash cam and headrest speakers. A new Ambient Scenario Mode has been introduced, which adjusts in-car brightness, audio volume, seat massage functions and cabin temperature, with three preset modes: Dynamic, Relax and Harmony. The new Audi S5 is further equipped with a Dynamic+ driving mode, which delivers a more thrilling driving experience thanks to the optimized electronic control system. Moreover, the automatic parking system has been refined, enabling the vehicle to park in tighter spaces.
In terms of powertrain, the new models carry over the powertrain options from the current versions. All petrol variants of the Audi A5 are powered by a 2.0TFSI engine, available in two tuning versions: the low-power version with a maximum output of 110 kW (150 PS) and the high-power version with 150 kW (204 PS). The diesel variants are equipped with the 2.0TDI EA288 evo engine, which churns out a maximum power of 150 kW (204 PS). The all-new Audi S5 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine with a maximum power of 270 kW (367 PS), paired with a 48V MHEV plus mild hybrid system and VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) technology.
