Official images of the all-new Audi A5 PHEV were recently unveiled. Positioned as a mid-size sedan, the new model will be available in both sedan and Avant (wagon) versions. Notably, this marks Audi's first introduction of a plug-in hybrid system in a mid-size sedan equipped with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid powertrain.
In terms of exterior design, the new Audi A5 PHEV retains the brand's iconic hexagonal grille. The headlight clusters feature matrix LED lighting, paired with sharp daytime running lights above them, creating a striking appearance. The lower front bumper has elongated air intakes featuring a honeycomb mesh design, flanked by triangular air deflectors that enhance the sporty aesthetic.
On the side profile, the new Audi A5 PHEV showcases compact and fluid lines as a standard wheelbase version. The dynamic double five-spoke alloy wheels add a sporty flair. The most notable difference from the fuel-powered version is the addition of a charging port located on the rear side fender. At the rear, the vehicle features a slender central section and broader ends, exuding a high-tech vibe.
The interior of the new Audi A5 PHEV mirrors that of the fuel-powered version, featuring a triple-screen layout. This includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central infotainment screen, and a 10.9-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger. The central infotainment screen is angled towards the driver, and the center console is largely devoid of physical buttons for a clean look. Below the central screen, you'll find storage compartments, a wireless smartphone charging area, and a Type-C charging port. Additionally, new paddle shifters behind the steering wheel enable the driver to adjust the regenerative braking level.
In terms of powertrain, the new Audi A5 PHEV will be equipped with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system. The electric motor generates 142 horsepower, contributing to a combined output of 299 horsepower. The powertrain is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system. The vehicle is fitted with a 20.7kWh battery, offering an all-electric range of 108km.
