The calculation sequence

Every component remains editable because customs valuation, tax bases, port tariffs and inland delivery vary by destination and vehicle.

01 / CIF ESTIMATE

Vehicle price + China inland/export cost + ocean freight + insurance.

02 / IMPORT DUTY

Estimated CIF multiplied by the user-entered duty rate.

03 / LOCAL TAX

User selects CIF or CIF plus duty as the planning tax base.

04 / LANDED TOTAL

CIF + duty + tax + fixed local costs + contingency.

Trade-term reference: ICC explains that CIF allocates cost, insurance and freight to the named destination port, while import clearance and import costs remain separate buyer obligations under the rule. Review ICC Incoterms 2020.

Calculator FAQ

The result is deliberately an estimate, not a customs assessment.

What does the used car import cost calculator include?

It adds the vehicle price, China-side export costs, ocean freight and insurance to estimate CIF, then applies the duty and tax rates entered by the user before adding destination charges, inland delivery and a contingency allowance.

Does the calculator know my country's current import duty?

No. Import duty, VAT, excise and valuation rules change by country and vehicle. Enter rates verified with the destination customs authority or a qualified clearing agent.

Is CIF the same as total landed cost?

No. CIF covers the cost, insurance and freight components to the named destination port. Import duty, local tax, port charges, clearance and inland delivery can still be payable after arrival.

Should VAT be calculated on CIF or CIF plus duty?

The tax base depends on the destination system. The calculator supports either CIF or CIF plus duty, but the buyer must confirm the correct basis locally.

Can I use the result as a customs declaration?

No. It is a planning estimate based on buyer-entered assumptions, not an official customs valuation, tax assessment, freight quotation or binding offer.
